The garments we wear allow us to construct the person we are, the person we might become, or the person we long to be. In this collection, I explore the power of clothing through the lens of the magical girl anime and manga of my childhood. A common trope in these stories is that an ordinary girl suddenly gains supernatural powers—marked by an extravagant transformation and the emergence of an alter ego. Sometimes she has multiple costumes, each reflecting a different strength she possesses. I’m inspired by this idea of multiplicity: the many selves we carry within us. I see that multiplicity most clearly in my mother, who has been my style icon for as long as I can remember. Looking through photographs from her past, I witness her transformations—the different versions of herself she chose to present to the world. I may never fully know who she was in those moments, but through these images, I glimpse pieces of her from before my existence in ways that words could never quite capture. <img width="1920" without the distraction of color or print. Stripped of surface detail, the focus remains on form, movement, and structure. Inspired by the principles of physics as a metaphor for emotional growth, gravity becomes the force that draws two bodies together. Attraction gains velocity, tension builds, and energy accumulates until a climax becomes inevitable — a supernova. The final draped dress resembles a dying star suspended in a cloud of fabric. Volume expands and collapses around the body, capturing a moment of explosive transformation. Designed for adaptability, the side can be gathered or released to reshape the silhouette, and the neck strap can be undone to transform the dress into a skirt — reinforcing themes of tension, and the digital world, questioning how we preserve memory and what we ultimately leave behind. Historically, the locket has served as an intimate vessel for human experience, safeguarding small yet meaningful mementos. However, physical photographs inevitably fade, deteriorate, or become lost over time. This work reimagines the locket for a digital age, proposing a way to create both permanence and adaptability in memory keeping.The final design embeds an NFC tag within a ring, allowing the wearer to access a digitized version of the same photograph housed physically within the piece. Through this linked platform, the user can update or change the digital image at any time, while the physical photograph remains as a tangible anchor.
